Penn State Scholars, Masters, Doctoral Dissertations

Theses for the subject areas located in Pattee and Paterno Libraries and submitted during the past 10 years are shelved in the stacks in 201 Paterno Library; earlier theses are in the Annex, and can be requested in accordance with standard annex request procedures.

Theses for subject libraries not housed in Pattee/Paterno are located in the appropriate subject library; earlier theses may be in the Annex, check The CAT (Penn State's Online Catalog).

Theses are searchable in The CAT by author, title, keyword, and broad subject, such as English or Ceramic Science. Use Advanced Search and limit material type to: Bachelors theses; Masters Theses; Doctoral dissertation.
It takes approximately six months from the time a thesis is submitted until it is available.

As of 2006, dissertations are no longer bound and shelved -- they are available electronically with microfiche copies at the Annex. Masters Theses will also be going electronic soon.

News and Microforms Library has many theses and dissertations on microfiche.

Dissertations and theses circulate to registered users of the University Libraries and can also be borrowed through Interlibrary Loan.
