Patrons without PSU IDThis is a featured page

When someone who is not a PSU faculty, staff, or student (alumni, pa resident, etc.) wants to get a book that is not at the campus where they are, they can do so using a Friends of Penn State account and using the "I Want It" button in the CAT. However, this does not work with articles, because articles must be requested through interlibrary loan (Illiad), a service only open to users with real psu id's.

Document delivery is an option (for PSU faculty and staff only), and can be requested by logging into Illiad, and selecting to borrow an item owned by Penn State, and using the link "item not at your campus."

But when the patron is a PA resident, alumni, or other category, the easiest solution is probably to refer the person to his/her public library to request the item via ILL. It may come from Penn State, or elsewhere, but their request will be sure to get to them.

Example: a person who requested this service was at another campus, and wanted to get a library card anyhow. While ILL from their public library is still probably the best option, the staff at any of the campus libraries is expert in handling this kind of request for their local patrons, and would also serve as a good resource for assistance.
