Leisure Reading Collection

The Penn State Libraries at University Park have a Leisure Reading Collection, located in the Reserve Reading Room, 1st floor, West Pattee Library (see photos).

The collection is composed of best sellers, popular fiction and non-fiction, library patron requests, and more. If you are looking for a collection of books just to read or browse, these books are there for you! Stop by and relax with one in the library, or check it out and take it home with you. Don't see a title you want? Recommend one by sending an email to goodreads@psulias.psu.edu. The collection will be ever-changing according to what's new, what's popular, and what you have asked for. Stop by today!

Searching the Leisure Reading collection

All of the books in the leisure reading collection are cataloged. If a patron has a specific title in mind, and you want to know whether it's in leisure reading, you can type the title into the search box, and change the drop-down that says keyword to title. To then see whether the title is in the leisure reading collection, click on the details button to see the locations. If in leisure, the location will say "Pattee, West Wing - lst Floor - Leisure Reading Collection."

If someone just wants to browse the CAT for what is in the collection, or whether a certain author or topic is there, Loanne's instructions for the advanced search were just right. Type leisure reading in as a keyword, and then you can enter the author (last,first) or the subject in the topic+title box or another keyword box.

If the patron is here in person and just wants to browse the holdings, I think the best thing for them to do is, of course, take a look at the shelves. Never know what serendipity might lead them to!

Also, please note that these books can be checked out from the library, and have the same circulation rules, as every other book. They are holdable as well.
