Laptops and PortsThis is a featured page

Laptops are available for 7-day, external loan to University students, faculty and staff from the Reserves service desk. These laptops are non-renewable, non-recallable, and subject to overdue fees of $25.00/day overdue, up to a maximum of $100.00. They are identified by green luggage tags with library barcodes affixed to the cases; when checked out, a date due slip is placed in a vinyl pocket affixed to the top of each laptop.

Also available in the Reserve Reading Room are a small number of laptops, identifiable by a red tag, reserved for in-library use only for Penn State faculty, staff, and students.

Media and Technology Support Services have laptops available for three-day rental to members of the University community. For more information about the rental program, contact MTSS Equipment Scheduling at (814) 865-5400.

Laptop Ports

**On May 14, 2010, during the regularly scheduled maintenance window (5:00 - 7:00 a.m.), Information Technology Services (ITS), Digital Library Technologies (DLT) will be decommissioning the KarlBridge open mobility ports service in the Pattee/Paterno Library eliminating access to the Internet using a wired Ethernet port. These ports are identified by a yellow sticker and the words "Laptop Port" With the popularity of the wireless solutions, the use of the KarlBridge open mobility ports has declined dramatically. Due to lack of use and the accessibility of a wireless solution, this service will be decommissioned at the end of the 2010 Spring semester. After this date any faculty, staff, or students needing Internet access will need to use the wireless solution provided.

Any questions may be directed to the DLT Service Desk: 814-863-0647.**

Internet ports for laptops are available in the subject libraries and in the Paterno Family Humanities Reading Room.

For more information about laptops, ports, and system requirements within the Libraries, click here or call the Reserve Room at (814) 863-0324.
