Authentication (Patron Identification)This is a featured page

Due to contractual and system requirements, some libraries' services and resources are available only to Penn State faculty, staff, and students. It is necessary for users to identify, or "authenticate" themselves to access these resources.

The Libraries' system uses a DCE process (Distributed Computing Environment) that allows Penn State users to authenticate themselves using their PSU
Access Account User ID and password for all services that require patron authentication. Most public workstations in the Libraries require patron authentication for access. However, most areas have one or more LIAS Express workstations that allow unauthenicated users to access databases and internet resouces having .gov, .mil, and .psu.edu extensions.

For visitors wishing to do research, short-term access accounts (STAAs) can be provided at the Gateway Commons Desk.
